Sofia University expands academic offerings with new master's program in Burgas and Bulgarian language lecturers forum
From the 2026/2027 academic year, Sofia University’s Faculty of Theology, together with the Faculty of Pedagogy, will admit students to a new part‑time master’s program in Church Social Work at the Burgas branch. The two‑semester course (four semesters for candidates from other fields) combines theological studies with practical training in social services, aiming to prepare specialists to support vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and victims of violence.
During July 28‑30, 2026, the university also hosted the inaugural Forum for Lecturers of Bulgarian Language, Literature and Culture in the Rector’s Hall. Organized by the Faculty of Slavic Philology, the three‑day event featured lectures, round‑table discussions and workshops addressing challenges of teaching Bulgarian abroad and updating the program of the university’s Summer Seminar.
