Sofia University Burgas master's expansion

In July 2026, Sofia University’s Faculty of Pedagogy announced the launch of three new master’s programmes at its Burgas branch for the 2026/27 academic year: Informal Education and Sports Innovation, Social Work with Refugees and Migrants, and Social Work with Children and Families. The initiative broadened the branch’s academic portfolio beyond the existing Master in Educational Management.

A few days later, the university added a part‑time master’s programme in Church Social Work, jointly offered by the Faculties of Theology and Pedagogy. This two‑semester (four‑semester for external candidates) programme blends theological studies with practical social‑service training aimed at supporting vulnerable populations. The same period also saw the inaugural Forum for Lecturers of Bulgarian Language, Literature and Culture, highlighting the university’s broader academic development efforts.

Together, these announcements illustrate a rapid expansion of Sofia University’s Burgas campus, diversifying postgraduate offerings across education, social work, and theology while fostering faculty collaboration and outreach.
