SoftBank and Quantinuum Release White Paper on Industrial Quantum Computing Applications

SoftBank Corp. and quantum‑computing firm Quantinuum have jointly published a white paper titled “Quantum Computing Frontiers.” The paper evaluates two commercially promising quantum‑computing use cases—quantum chemistry for new materials and energy research, and large‑scale graph analysis for telecom fraud detection—against Quantinuum’s hardware roadmap. It provides a framework for assessing how advances in quantum hardware and algorithms could shift these applications toward industrial readiness, and discusses the integration of quantum computing, AI and high‑performance computing in future data‑center services.

Quantinuum’s Applications Group general manager Duncan Jones noted that organizations can explore value‑creating quantum use cases before fault‑tolerant systems become widely available. SoftBank’s senior vice‑president and CTO Ryuji Wakikawa added that the focus is now on determining which problems can be tackled at each hardware maturity stage, emphasizing the need for parallel progress in algorithms and system integration.
