Solan school children risk lives crossing river via makeshift pipes

A viral video from the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh shows school children risking their lives to cross a surging river due to a lack of proper infrastructure.

Because there is no permanent bridge in the area, local residents have resorted to using makeshift solutions, including laying iron pipes across the water and using a rope-and-trolley system. The footage depicts young students attempting to balance on thin pipes or riding in makeshift trolleys to reach their school, despite the dangerous currents.

Local residents report that they have been demanding the construction of a permanent bridge for a long time, but their requests have not been addressed by the administration. The situation becomes particularly hazardous during the rainy season when water levels rise.
