Chandrababu Naidu has promised completion, the project has undergone multiple cost revisions and failed tender attempts.

Additionally, on the Godavari River islands near Rajamahendravaram, children from fishing families must use small boats to reach mainland schools. Although district education officials have offered hostel accommodations, many families choose to keep children with them during the fishing season. These daily boat commutes become increasingly hazardous during monsoon floods, leading to local calls for the revival of island schools or the implementation of dedicated safe transport services.
