Solana validators approve accelerated disinflation schedule
Solana validators have narrowly approved proposal SGP-0002, which implements a faster disinflation schedule for the network. The measure passed with 67.001% support, just clearing the required 66.67% supermajority threshold.
Under the approved SIMD-0550 parameter change, Solana’s annual disinflation rate will double from 15% to 30%. While the terminal inflation rate remains unchanged at 1.5%, this acceleration is expected to reach that target in approximately 2.8 years, compared to the previous estimate of 5.7 years.
The shift is projected to result in approximately 18.9 million fewer SOL emissions over a six-year period. The vote saw a participation rate of approximately 60.7%, with roughly 25.16% of voters opposing the measure.
