Solar activity forecast predicts low geomagnetic disturbance and stable HF conditions

Solar observations for early August show overall low activity, with only occasional B‑class flares and a single C1.6 flare on August 5. No Earth‑directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) have been recorded, and solar wind speeds remain in a slow regime, falling from about 400 km/s to roughly 345 km/s. A weak CME that left the Sun on August 3 may produce modest enhancements from August 6 through August 8, but the expected impact on the ionosphere is limited.

The geomagnetic forecast indicates a quiet environment, with Kp values staying between 1 and 3. The solar‑flux index has dropped below 100 for the first time since 13 April, and the 10.7‑cm solar flux is expected to remain low next week. These conditions should keep the F2‑layer critical frequency stable, supporting reliable HF propagation on bands such as 20 m, 30 m and 17 m, while sporadic‑E events may still produce strong short‑range signals in Europe.
