Solar energy trends show growth in Swiss balcony systems and portable panels
The adoption of balcony power plants in Switzerland is seeing significant growth. According to Swissolar, the number of registered balcony solar systems is expected to increase more than tenfold by 2026 compared to 2023. This surge follows the simplification of connection rules by grid operators, making it easier for tenants and apartment owners to install compact photovoltaic systems without complex building permits.
These systems typically consist of one or two solar modules, a micro-inverter, and mounting hardware. They are designed to cover a portion of household electricity needs, such as powering routers, refrigerators, or chargers. In most Swiss cantons, installation requires only a simple notification to the grid operator.
In the mobile energy sector, new hardware such as the BougeRV 200W foldable solar panel is targeting outdoor enthusiasts. This device utilizes Class A monocrystalline cells with a 25% efficiency rate and features an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, making it suitable for camping and mobile power station recharging.
