Solar Industry Hits 25% Panel Efficiency, Tracker Sales Up 19% in 2025
At the SNEC 2026 exhibition in Shanghai, 25 % conversion efficiency has become the baseline for high‑end photovoltaic modules. Major manufacturers displayed panels above this level – Aiko Solar at 25.6 %, Lingi at 25.5 %, Canadian Solar at 25.2 % and JinkoSolar at 25.91 %. Cell efficiencies exceeding 28 % and LONGi’s certified 26.4 % module were also highlighted. LONGi’s founder Li Zhenguo noted that “each additional percentage point in cell efficiency translates into more than a 5 % reduction in system cost.”
The global solar tracker market grew 19 % in 2025, with shipments surpassing 134 GW. Nextpower retained the lead with over 50 % market share and shipments close to 40 GW. Demand in the United States rose more than 25 % year‑on‑year, while Europe reached a record 25 GW of tracker shipments, propelled by Axial’s agrivoltaic solutions in Italy. Growth was strongest in India, Africa and Saudi Arabia. Wood Mackenzie analyst Joe Shangraw said the U.S. “remains the epicenter of innovation in the solar tracker sector.”
