Solar Team Eindhoven unveils Stella Juva solar-powered ambulance
Solar Team Eindhoven, a group of 23 students from the Eindhoven University of Technology, has unveiled Stella Juva, described as the world’s first solar-powered ambulance. Unlike traditional ambulances designed to transport patients to hospitals, this vehicle is engineered to function as a mobile clinic that brings medical care directly to people in remote or underserved areas.
The vehicle utilizes solar energy to power both its movement and its onboard medical equipment. This capability is specifically intended for regions where fuel is scarce and electricity is unreliable. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 1 billion people globally live in areas with insecure or non-existent electrical power for medical facilities. Stella Juva aims to address this gap by providing a self-sustaining source of energy for healthcare delivery.
