SolarWinds launches Avior agentic AI for IT operations

SolarWinds has launched Avior, a goal-oriented agentic AI system designed to automate and manage mission-critical IT environments. The system is built to help organizations move from reactive management to proactive, resilient operations by coordinating specialized agents to handle tasks such as correlating alerts, auditing devices, remediating configuration drift, and managing asset lifecycles.

To ensure enterprise security and trust, Avior utilizes a deterministic execution framework that includes security guardrails, approval controls, and auditable workflows. The system employs risk-tiered autonomy, meaning it requires explicit human approval for high-risk actions. It also features data masking, automated rollback support, and granular audit trails.

The development of Avior was driven by an internal SolarWinds team known as ‘Area 51’. The team reported that using AI coding tools and agents allowed them to increase their software engineering output fivefold compared to traditional human engineering teams. The project, which began with four engineers, has since expanded to approximately 25 employees.
