Soledad de Graciano Sánchez expands women’s protection centers and manages rain‑related rescues

The municipal government of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, opened three specialized facilities for women victims of gender violence: the Centro LIBRE, which offers psychological, social, legal and economic assistance; a forthcoming delegation of the State Secretariat for Women and Equality; and the temporary shelter “Esperanza,” providing up to 72 hours of safe accommodation. Mayor Juan Manuel Navarro Muñiz said the initiative makes the municipality the only one in the state with such dedicated spaces.

The same authorities responded to intense rain and strong winds on Sunday, coordinating Protection Civil, municipal services, parks, and the municipal guard. Over 25 service actions were carried out, including clearing fallen trees, removing debris and rescuing seven passengers from a stranded bus on the Puente Naranja. All passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported, resulting in a “white balance” for the event.
