Soledad de Graciano Sánchez releases books on local legends
The municipal government of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez has released two volumes of the book ‘Leyendas Soledenses’ to preserve the local historical memory and cultural heritage of the municipality. The books contain 40 paranormal stories that are available for free consultation in municipal libraries and academic centers.
Municipal Chronicler Amado Juan Sánchez Cabrera stated that the volumes are the result of an unprecedented documentary effort, using historical archives, old newspapers, photographs, and resident testimonies to corroborate the accounts. He noted that more than 70 percent of the legends are based on real people, places, and events that occurred in the municipality, while the remainder consists of traditions passed down through generations.
The initiative aims to strengthen local identity, particularly among children and young people and families who have recently moved to the rapidly growing municipality. Notable stories include the history of the former San Isidro ranch and the legend of Cerro Goleta.
