Soledad Municipalities Repair Drainage and Bridges After Flood Damage

The municipal government of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez in Mexico has replaced damaged sections of its sewage drainage network. Workers installed approximately 50‑60 metres of new 18‑24 inch pipe on Avenida Gálvez and Camino Real, as well as other locations such as San Francisco and Panamá streets, investing between 500,000 and 600,000 pesos per segment. The work, directed by Mayor Juan Manuel Navarro and Infrastructure Director Jorge Grimaldo Limón, was undertaken despite the system’s usual operator, INTERAPAS, because the collapsed lines posed a sanitary risk to residents.

In the neighboring municipality of Soledad de Doblado, intense rainfall has destroyed low‑height bridges and cut off rural communities across more than 150 rancherías. Mayor Elsa Cruz Méndez Ibarra reported that two to three bridges were damaged and many roads remain impassable, forcing families to wait hours for passage. The municipality is gradually rehabilitating access routes and planning small bridge projects, while coordinating with state authorities for additional support.
