Soledad Núñez challenges Camilo Pérez to debate for Asunción mayoralty

Opposition candidate Soledad Núñez has publicly challenged Camilo Pérez, the Honor Colorado candidate for the Intendency of Asunción, to a debate ahead of the municipal elections on October 4.

Núñez used social media to claim that Pérez is being prevented from participating in debates by political decisions. She questioned his capacity and courage, stating, “A Camilo no le están dando permiso para debatir. ¿A qué le tiene miedo? ¿No tiene la capacidad? Hay que animarse a dar la cara.”

The campaign has intensified as the election approaches. While the Colorado Party has unified various factions around Pérez, the opposition has consolidated support behind Núñez. A central point of contention in the race is the financial and administrative management of the Asunción Municipality, specifically regarding the tenure of former official Óscar “Nenecho” Rodríguez. Núñez has criticized the previous administration, questioning the whereabouts of municipal funds and the lack of presence in local neighborhoods.
