Solomon Islands institutions announce trade fair hosting and health education partnerships

The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to host the 2026 National Trade Fair. The event is scheduled to take place at SINU Village from September 7 to 14, 2026. Under the agreement, MCILI will fund infrastructure improvements at the venue, including upgrades to electrical systems, drainage, roads, parking, and sanitation facilities.

Separately, a delegation from the Solomon Islands and the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the Silliman University College of Nursing in the Philippines to discuss nursing education and health workforce development. This visit aims to establish a tripartite partnership between Silliman University, SINU, and the WHO under the Philippine-Pacific Health Initiative (PhilPac). The initiative focuses on addressing human resource challenges in health through regional cooperation and capacity-building.
