Solomon Islands police advance institutional reforms and forensic training

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is implementing several initiatives to strengthen law enforcement and institutional capabilities. In Isabel Province, officers delivered specialist policing awareness and training to improve local crime reporting and investigative skills. Supported by the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), the training included forensic investigative techniques, digital forensics, and drug analysis. A significant focus was placed on addressing transnational crime threats in the Pacific, such as illicit drug trafficking via semi-submersible vessels.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS) held strategic consultations to advance the Institutional Strengthening Reform Programme and the RSIPF Police Academy Modernisation Programme. These efforts aim to modernize the police training curriculum and achieve accreditation. The reforms are designed to transition from planning to measurable implementation, ensuring the force can respond to emerging security challenges.
