Overview

Law enforcement and security initiatives in the Solomon Islands have focused on community engagement and institutional modernization.

In late August, the China Police Liaison Team collaborated with the National Crime Prevention Department and local schools to sponsor a youth crime prevention speech competition in Honiara. The event targeted issues such as cyber safety, drug use, and bullying to encourage students to participate in community safety.

By September, efforts shifted toward technical and structural improvements within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF). Supported by the AFP Policing Partnership Program, officers conducted training in Isabel Province covering forensic investigative techniques, digital forensics, and drug analysis to combat transnational crime. Concurrently, the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services initiated strategic consultations to advance the Institutional Strengthening Reform Programme and modernize the RSIPF Police Academy.
