Solothurn police warn of jewelry trick thefts

The Solothurn Cantonal Police have issued a warning following approximately ten trick thefts in the canton. Perpetrators, traveling either on foot or by vehicle, approach victims and attempt to hang cheap jewelry around their necks as a distraction. While the victim is distracted by the inexpensive items, the thieves steal the victim's actual jewelry.

Authorities advise the public to remain skeptical of unknown individuals and to maintain distance if approached unexpectedly. The Swiss Crime Prevention agency recommends keeping valuables close to the body and avoiding unexpected physical contact.
