Turkey advances major transport and infrastructure projects
Major infrastructure developments are underway across several Turkish provinces. In Trabzon, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality are launching the Trabzon Rail System Project. The first phase, a 16.2-kilometer line with 16 stations, will connect Akçaabat to Trabzon Airport, serving key locations such as the City Hospital and Karadeniz Technical University. The project is expected to carry over 87,000 passengers daily and is scheduled to begin its foundation ceremony on September 1, 2026.
In Erzurum, the Metropolitan Municipality Council has approved several transportation measures, including the re-tendering of public transport lines for Pasinler and Horasan to ensure service continuity. Additionally, 86 commercial license plates for student and personnel transport will be leased for 10 years. The council is also reviewing regulations for electric scooters to address safety and urban clutter.
In Manisa, specifically in the Soma district, the Manisa Water and Sewerage Administration (MASKİ) is executing a 20 million TL rainwater infrastructure project in the İnönü and İstasyon neighborhoods to mitigate flood risks. Meanwhile, in Bursa, the municipality has completed significant water and sewage upgrades in the Müşküle neighborhood of İznik, followed by road surface renovations.
