Soma to receive 100 million‑lira town square and underground parking complex

Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and Soma Municipality held a foundation ceremony for the Mimar Ferdi Zeyrek Town Square and Underground Parking Project in Soma. The venture, costing more than 100 million lira, will be financed 75 % by the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and 25 % by Soma Municipality. The ceremony was attended by Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Besim Dutlulu, Soma Mayor Sercan Okur and other local officials. Dutlulu said, "Soma’yı Hak Ettiği Yere Getireceğiz" (We will bring Soma to where it deserves to be).

The project will create a modern public square above a 100‑vehicle underground parking facility, aiming to alleviate traffic and parking problems in the district centre. Completion is planned within about one year. The square will bear the name of the late Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek as a tribute. Parallel works include road resurfacing, asphalt laying on 2.7 km of streets, and repairs caused by recent natural‑gas conversion work.
