Somali Minister defends Turkey-Somalia strategic partnership

Somali Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Abdulfatah Kasim Mohamud, has defended the growing relationship between Somalia and Turkey, describing it as a transition from humanitarian aid to a strategic partnership.

In an interview with Shabele Media Network, Mohamud stated that Turkey's support for the Somali people is long-standing and has been instrumental in helping the nation navigate difficult periods. He specifically highlighted Turkey's contributions to training the Somali military, as well as support in economic and public service sectors.

Addressing recent criticisms, Mohamud claimed there are ‘hired individuals’ attempting to disparage the bilateral ties. He questioned why the relationship is being frequently targeted now, asserting that the partnership has evolved significantly over many years.
