South Korea football team loses 1-4 to Uruguay in friendly
The South Korean national football team suffered a 1-4 defeat against Uruguay in an international friendly held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on September 28. Despite a previous 3-0 victory over Ecuador, the team struggled with defensive organization and high-pressure tactics from Uruguay, conceding three goals in the first half.
During the match, Son Heung-min scored a consolation goal in the 80th minute, tying the record for the most A-match goals scored by a South Korean male player at 58, matching Cha Bum-kun. This goal also brought his total official career goals to 300. However, Son expressed hesitation regarding the goal, noting it did not feel as though he had clearly made contact with the ball.
Newcomer Kim Min-su, playing for Rangers, emerged as a standout performer following his substitution in the second half. His aggressive play and technical ability provided a bright spot in the loss, marking him as a potential future talent for the national team under interim manager Robert Moreno.
