Sony announces new PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge wireless headsets

Sony has announced two new wireless headset models for the PlayStation 5: the PlayStation Pulse and the Pulse Edge. Both models utilize planar magnetic driver technology, a feature integrated into the ecosystem following Sony’s acquisition of the audio brand Audeze. This technology uses a lightweight membrane within a magnetic field to provide faster response times and more precise spatial audio.

The standard PlayStation Pulse is designed as a balanced option for general gaming, movies, and music. The premium Pulse Edge model is tailored for competitive players, featuring eight magnets per driver to deliver deeper bass and enhanced clarity. The Edge model also includes active noise cancellation (ANC) and a removable boom microphone.

Both headsets will support PlayStation Link technology for lossless, low-latency audio transmission and can connect to the PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, or Mac. They also feature parallel Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones. The new designs include foldable ear cups for easier transport and will be available in White and Midnight Black. The products are expected to be released toward the end of 2026.
