Sony PlayStation audio accessory releases

Overview

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a series of new audio accessories for the PlayStation ecosystem. In August 2026, the company introduced the Pulse Elevate, its first dedicated wireless gaming speakers. These devices feature studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers, built-in woofers, and PlayStation Link technology for low-latency connectivity. They are designed for use with PS5, PC, Mac, and PlayStation Portal, and include AI-enhanced noise rejection via a built-in microphone.

Following this, in September 2026, Sony announced a refreshed lineup of wireless headsets, the PlayStation Pulse and PlayStation Pulse Edge. Both models utilize custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers that have been enlarged compared to the 2024 Pulse Elite model to provide deeper bass and improved spatial accuracy. This technology, which uses a lightweight membrane within a magnetic field for faster response times, was integrated into the ecosystem following Sony’s acquisition of the audio brand Audeze.

The headsets utilize PlayStation Link technology to provide lossless audio and support simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity for use with the PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, Mac, and smartphones. Both models feature AI-enhanced noise rejection and a redesigned form factor with rotating or foldable earcups.

The PlayStation Pulse is a balanced option for gaming, movies, and music, expected to launch during the 2026 holiday season. The Pulse Edge is a premium model tailored for competitive players, featuring active noise cancellation (ANC), a detachable boom microphone, a carrying case, and an audio/microphone jack. The Edge model features double the magnet volume of the standard model, with eight magnets per driver compared to four in the Pulse. Both products will be available in White and Midnight Black, with the Pulse Edge scheduled for release in early 2027.
