Sony announces PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge wireless headsets

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced two new wireless gaming headsets for the PlayStation 5: the PlayStation Pulse and the premium Pulse Edge. Both models feature custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers, which are larger than those in the 2024 Pulse Elite, designed to provide deeper bass and enhanced spatial accuracy for identifying in-game cues like footsteps.

The headsets utilize PlayStation Link technology for lossless, ultra-low-latency audio, and they support simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity. This allows users to switch seamlessly between the PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac. Both models include AI-enhanced noise rejection for the integrated microphones to ensure clearer voice chat.

The Pulse Edge is the high-end option, featuring eight magnets per driver compared to four in the standard Pulse model. It also includes active noise cancellation (ANC), a detachable boom microphone, a carrying case, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The standard Pulse model lacks ANC and the detachable boom mic.

Both headsets will be available in White and Midnight Black. The PlayStation Pulse is expected to launch in select markets during the 2026 holiday season, while the Pulse Edge is scheduled for release in early 2027. Pricing and specific pre-order dates have not yet been disclosed.
