Sony delays FX5 camcorder release and raises Cinema Line prices in Japan

Sony has announced a postponement for the release of its professional FX5 camcorder, originally scheduled for August 21, 2026. The company cited “production issues” for the delay and noted that the release of related accessories, including the DVF-EL1 OLED viewfinder, XLR-H2 handle unit, and VMC-BNCU1 timecode adapter cable, will also be delayed. New release dates have not yet been confirmed.

Separately, Sony Marketing Corporation is implementing price increases across its Cinema Line in Japan, effective September 1, 2026. The company attributed the price revisions to rising costs in raw materials, manufacturing, and logistics. The adjustments affect 18 products, including several cameras and memory cards. Notable increases include the FX3, which will see a price rise of approximately 19 percent, and the FX6, which will increase by about 12 percent.
