Sony FX5 shipping delayed to mid-November in Europe
The shipping release for the Sony FX5 compact Cinema Line camera has been delayed again. Sony’s European websites in the UK, France, and Germany now list November 16 as the shipping date, moving it from a previous target of October 16.
This marks a significant postponement from the original release schedule, which initially planned for a Japanese launch on August 21 and US availability in mid-August. Sony has attributed the delays to “production-related circumstances” and previously noted that orders had exceeded expectations.
The delay affects not only the FX5 camera body but also related accessories, including the DVF-EL1 OLED viewfinder, the XLR-H2 XLR handle unit, and the VMC-BNCU1 timecode adapter cable. In the United States, retailers like B&H continue to accept preorders for the body at $4,898, though no specific availability date has been provided for the American market.
