Sony launches A7R VI with 66.8MP sensor and 32‑bit float audio

Sony introduced the A7R VI mirrorless camera, featuring a 66.8‑megapixel full‑frame stacked sensor, BIONZ XR2 processor with AI, blackout‑free 30 fps RAW capture, 16‑stop dynamic range, 8.5‑stop IBIS, a 9.44‑million‑dot EVF, 4K 120p and 8K 30p video, and internal four‑channel 32‑bit float audio via the new XLR‑A4 unit with a front‑tally light. The accompanying FE 100‑400 mm f/4.5 GM OSS lens offers a constant f/4.5 aperture and four linear motors for fast, precise zoom and focus.

Separately, the earlier A7R V 61‑megapixel model is being offered by Adorama in the United Kingdom for $3,248 plus a $50 Sony cashback, bundled with an extra battery, a backpack and a 128 GB SD card. The A7R V’s high‑resolution sensor, AI‑driven autofocus that tracks humans, animals, birds, insects, vehicles and aircraft, and 8K video capability make it a versatile hybrid for both stills and video creators.
