Sony launches FX5 cinema camera, pushing FX3 price to 30‑day high
Sony introduced its new full‑frame cinema camera, the FX5, on July 22, 2026. The FX5 features a 16.6 MP stacked Exmor RS sensor, BIONZ XR2 processor, open‑gate 5K recording and internal 16‑bit X‑OCN capture, positioning it above the earlier FX3 in Sony’s compact Cinema Line.
Shortly after the launch, Amazon’s 30‑day price history shows the FX3’s price rising from about $3,898 to $4,298, its highest level in the period. The price increase of roughly $400 (10 %) narrows the gap between the FX3 and the FX5 from about $1,000 to $600, altering the purchasing calculus for creators who compare the two models.
