Sony launches RX10 V superzoom camera with 24-600mm lens and AI autofocus

Sony announced the fifth‑generation RX10 V on July 9 2026, the first new model in the RX10 line after a nine‑year gap. The camera combines a ZEISS Vario‑Sonnar T* 24‑600 mm (25× optical) lens with a fast f/2.4‑4.0 aperture, a 20.1‑megapixel 1‑inch stacked Exmor RS sensor and the BIONZ XR processor equipped with a dedicated AI unit. Real‑time Recognition AF can identify and track people, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and aircraft, while blackout‑free continuous shooting reaches up to 30 fps with AF/AE calculations at 60 Hz.

Video capabilities include 4K recording at 120 p, Active Mode stabilization, S‑Cinetone, S‑Log3 and support for up to 16 custom LUTs, plus USB‑C live streaming at 4K 30 p. The NP‑FZ100 battery provides roughly 630 shots, a 50 % increase over the previous model. Pricing is US$2,299 (≈ £1,900) with shipments expected from August 2026; a Malaysian launch lists RM8,999.
