Sony postpones release of FX5 professional camcorder

Sony has officially announced a postponement for the release of its FX5 professional camcorder and several related accessories. Originally scheduled for release on August 21, 2026, the delay is attributed to production-related circumstances.

In addition to the FX5 camera, the release of the DVF-EL1 OLED viewfinder, XLR-H2 handle unit, and VMC-BNCU1 timecode adapter cable will also be delayed. Sony has stated that new release dates for these products will be provided once they are finalized. Current estimates suggest the camera may not be available until late October 2026 at the earliest. The postponement also necessitates adjustments to the planned launch commemorative campaign.
