Sony rumored to launch new Walkman and WH-1000XM4C headphones

Leaks suggest Sony is preparing several new audio products. A new Walkman model, the NW-ZX900, is rumored to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, 8 GB of RAM, and Wi-Fi 6E. This hardware upgrade aims to improve the responsiveness of the Android-based interface for streaming services like Spotify and Tidal, rather than directly altering sound quality. The device could arrive late this year or in early 2027.

Additionally, details regarding the Sony WH-1000XM4C headphones have emerged. This model appears to be a more affordable version of the 2020 WH-1000XM4, potentially launching around September 7. While it retains the foldable design and 40 mm drivers of its predecessor, it is expected to feature Bluetooth 6.0. However, some specifications may be reduced, including the removal of NFC for quick pairing and a slightly shorter battery life, reported at 27 hours with noise canceling enabled compared to 30 hours on the original model. The new version may also include a lavender color option.
