ISS Spacewalk: Meir and Adenot complete all-female mission
NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot completed an all-female spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS) on Tuesday. The mission lasted approximately six hours and 49 minutes.
Key objectives included replacing a retroreflector on the Harmony module to improve spacecraft docking and navigation, as well as replacing a high-definition camera on the station's truss. The astronauts also collected surface samples to search for microorganisms and prepared the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer radiator for future maintenance.
During the excursion, Adenot experienced limited mobility in her left shoulder, likely caused by a snagged heater cable in her glove. The issue was addressed by adjusting her suit before returning to the airlock. This mission marks Adenot’s third spacewalk in two weeks and Meir’s seventh, with the latter becoming one of NASA’s most experienced female astronauts.
