Soprema submits takeover bid for Fibre Excellence site in Saint-Gaudens

Soprema has submitted a takeover bid for the Fibre Excellence site in Saint-Gaudens, Haute-Garonne, which employs 270 workers. The offer was filed with the Toulouse Commercial Court on Monday, August 24, 2026. The Occitanie region and the CGT 31 union have confirmed the submission, noting that the Alsatian group and its partners have provided the necessary guarantees.

Regional presidents Carole Delga and Renaud Muselier have pledged financial support of 5 million euros each. The Commercial Court is scheduled to deliver its verdict on September 8, with a deadline of September 3 for any improvements to the offer. While the news has brought relief, workers remain mobilized to ensure the factory's reopening.

This development follows the liquidation of the group's Tarascon plant, which produced paper pulp and electricity. While the Tarascon site faces closure, the Saint-Gaudens facility remains a candidate for rescue through this potential industrial takeover.
