Soria province prepares for total solar eclipse with town talks
The provincial deputation of Soria is organising a series of informational sessions across the province to ready residents and municipal authorities for the total solar eclipse on 12 August. Astronomer and science communicator Alberto Jiménez will travel to eight towns—including San Esteban de Gormaz, Ólvega, San Leonardo de Yagüe, Arcos de Jalón, San Pedro Manrique, Garray, Vinuesa and Almazán—explaining the eclipse’s characteristics, safe‑viewing practices and organisational recommendations.
A separate briefing was held for the 16 tourism offices in the region, equipping them to guide visitors, advise on optimal observation sites and ensure safety measures are in place. The first meeting is scheduled for 27 July in San Esteban de Gormaz, after which the programme will continue in the remaining municipalities.
