Sorin Grindeanu backs armistice government in Romania
Sorin Grindeanu, president of Romania's Social Democratic Party (PSD), said he has no principled objection to forming a "government of armistice," a caretaker arrangement intended to exclude extremist parties.
He noted that the current government was dismissed with 281 votes more than 60 days ago and that a single individual is blocking negotiations. Grindeanu criticised the proposed prime minister Siegfried Mureșan, calling him a "smaller Bolojan," and affirmed that PSD would not support Mureșan's cabinet.
Grindeanu also urged the centrist USR party to move to opposition and said he has been in direct contact with USR leader Ilie Bolojan about legislative work related to the national recovery plan.
