Sorocaba hosts exhibition celebrating 50 years of National Poetic Movement

The exhibition ‘Movimento Poético Nacional: 50 anos de Poesia, Memória e Cultura Brasileira’ opens this Thursday at Pátio Cianê Shopping in Sorocaba. Curated by writer Shirley Oliveira Ferro, the free event celebrates the Golden Jubilee of the National Poetic Movement.

Organized by the Sorocaba City Hall through the Secretariat of Culture (Secult), the exhibition aims to highlight local artists and bring art closer to the community. The collection features works selected to showcase how poets have used language to preserve Brazilian cultural identity and foster social connections.

The National Poetic Movement (MPN) was officially established on October 20, 1976, following a gathering of intellectuals and writers at the home of literary figure Paulo Menotti Del Picchia. The exhibition will run until October 31 in Block B, Floor 2, of the shopping center.
