Sorocaba launches free June spay-and-neuter program for dogs and cats

The municipality of Sorocaba, through its Secretariat of Environment, Protection and Animal Welfare (SEMA), opened registrations for a free spay-and-neuter program for resident dogs and cats during June. Pet owners can schedule surgeries via a dedicated online link, with limited slots available.

The initiative aims to control the canine and feline population, reduce abandoned animals, prevent disease, and improve overall public health. All animals will also receive microchips that store owner information in a municipal database. Applicants must submit identification, proof of residence, and animal details through an online form, after which SEMA staff will confirm appointments by email. The SEMA Animal Protection office is located at Rua Rosa Maria de Oliveira, 345, Jardim Zulmira, and can be contacted at (15) 3202‑8006.
