São Paulo and Sorocaba roll out special transport for Brazil‑Japan World Cup match

The municipal transit agency Urbes in Sorocaba (São Paulo state) added 233 extra bus trips on 37 lines for the Brazil‑Japan World Cup match on Monday. The reinforcement, based on demand studies, will run mainly between 12:00 and 14:00 and is split among the three operators – City (92 trips on 11 lines), Sorocaba (75 trips on 12 lines) and ConSor (66 trips on 14 lines). Adjustments may be made later in the day to keep service continuous.

In São Paulo, the Companhia de Engenharia de Tráfego (CET) activated a special traffic operation starting at 11:00. Teams of agents will monitor key corridors and venues such as the Anhangabaú area, the Pacaembu stadium, Parque do Ibirapuera and the Pinheiros‑Vila Madalena corridor. Reversible lanes for general traffic and exclusive bus lanes were opened on avenues including Radial Leste, Mooca, Jaguaré, and several bridges, to preserve flow and safety during the match.

Both cities aim to maintain traffic fluidity and ensure passenger safety as thousands gather to watch the national team’s World Cup game.
