Sorrento authorities seize illegal parking lot on protected agricultural land

Carabinieri in Sorrento have executed a preventive seizure of an agricultural plot in the Pignatella area, near Marina di Puolo, which had been illegally converted into a permanent parking lot. The seizure was ordered by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Torre Annunziata following a request from the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Investigations conducted since March 2026 revealed that the land, which is subject to environmental and landscape constraints and was originally an olive grove, underwent permanent and substantial alterations. The site was equipped with ticket kiosks, canopies, mobile access barriers, and cement paving without the necessary building permits or landscape authorizations.

The operation, involving the Sorrento Carabinieri and the local municipality's anti-abuse office, determined that the commercial activity continued well beyond the expiration of a previous temporary use agreement that had ended on October 31, 2025. The owners and the commercial manager face allegations regarding significant changes in urban land use and violations of landscape protection laws.
