Sotheby’s launches major Botero exhibition in New York

Sotheby’s opened the exhibition ‘Botero in New York’ at its Breuer building in New York City, showcasing more than 35 paintings, sculptures and other works by Colombian artist Fernando Botero. The show runs from late July through early September and focuses on the pivotal period of the late 1950s to early 1970s when Botero solidified his distinctive style while living in New York.

The exhibition, organized jointly by the Fernando Botero Foundation and Sotheby’s, includes pieces loaned by the artist’s family and private collectors, marking the first solo Botero show at the auction house and the first major New York presentation dedicated to a single Colombian artist.
