Soundgarden aims to release final album in 2027

Guitarist Kim Thayil said Soundgarden is working on its final studio album, which will feature recordings of late singer Chris Cornell and is slated for a 2027 release. The band continues to develop material started years ago, targeting eight or nine tracks, while juggling other commitments such as Hall of Fame induction and members' side projects.

Thayil did not rule out touring to promote the album and mentioned the possibility of using a guest vocalist. He emphasized the importance of getting the posthumous material right, noting the legacy of both the band and Cornell.

The project reflects the group’s effort to honor Cornell’s contributions while delivering a final record that meets their standards.
