Soundgarden's Final Album with Chris Cornell Enters Mixing Phase

Drummer Matt Cameron announced that Soundgarden’s long‑awaited final album, featuring the late Chris Cornell’s vocals, has moved into the mixing stage. The eight‑song record is being mixed by Joe Barresi, with producer Terry Date overseeing the sessions alongside surviving members guitarist Kim Thayil and bassist Ben Shepherd.

Cameron explained that the material dates back to 2013‑2016, when the band exchanged demos with Cornell, recorded rehearsal performances, and incorporated Cornell’s guitar parts and vocal demos. While no official release date has been set, the band is focused on completing the mix and finalizing any remaining instrumentals.

The project follows years of legal disputes with Cornell’s widow and years of work by the surviving members to honor the late frontman’s recordings.
