Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil discusses final album progress

Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil has described the process of completing the band’s final studio album as “emotionally draining.” The project, which began before the death of vocalist Chris Cornell in 2017, aims to honor the late singer's legacy.

Thayil noted that while the delays have been difficult, finishing the work is a way to pay tribute to Cornell and avoid an injustice to the fans who were aware of the ongoing composition process. The band intends to maintain the group's established identity, ensuring the record sounds like Soundgarden despite Cornell's absence.
