Soundgarden Nears Release of Final Album Featuring Chris Cornell
Matt Cameron, the drummer of Soundgarden, confirmed that the band's long‑awaited final album with late vocalist Chris Cornell has entered the mixing stage. The project, which contains eight songs recorded with Cornell’s vocals before his 2017 death, was stalled for years by a legal dispute between the surviving members and Cornell’s estate. The disagreement was resolved in 2023, allowing the band to resume work and now bring the recordings to completion. No official release date has been announced, but the mix‑down indicates the posthumous album is close to being finished.
The band also noted there are a few instrumental tracks left to be worked on by guitarist Kim Thayil, and they may add new material. Fans anticipate that this will be the last release featuring Cornell’s distinctive voice.
