Saurabh Chandrakar extradited from Oman to India in Mahadev betting case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully extradited Saurabh Chandrakar, a promoter and key accused in the Mahadev Online Book illegal betting syndicate, from Oman to India. A special CBI team escorted Chandrakar back to India following his detention by the Royal Oman Police, which was prompted by an Interpol Red Corner Notice.

Chandrakar is wanted in two CBI cases where chargesheets have already been filed, as well as a money laundering investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Mahadev syndicate allegedly operated one of India’s largest illegal online betting networks from abroad, offering bets on cricket, football, and card games through a vast network of franchised panels and branches across the country.

Investigators allege that the syndicate generated massive proceeds, which were routed through numerous mule bank accounts and moved abroad via hawala channels. Furthermore, agencies claim a portion of these funds was used to pay protection money to public servants to facilitate the network's operations. Chandrakar is expected to be produced before a special CBI court in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, following transit remand and medical examinations.
