Souss-Massa political activity intensifies ahead of Moroccan elections

Political activity is intensifying in Morocco's Souss-Massa region as parties prepare for the legislative elections scheduled for September 23.

Fouzi Lekjaa, a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) political bureau and Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the Budget, has launched his first field activities within the party. Following his recent official joining of PAM, Lekjaa held a closed meeting in Agadir with party leaders, including regional coordinator Hamid Wahbi, to evaluate organizational structures and discuss electoral preparations.

The region is also experiencing significant political shifts as various politicians and elected officials migrate between parties. In Tiznit, former parliamentary figures have joined the Istiqlal Party to support candidate Hassan El Baz. In Inzegane, former parliamentarian Mohamed Amloud moved from PAM to the Popular Movement (MP) following internal disputes. Additionally, former Justice and Development Party (PJD) member El Houcine Harriche has joined the National Rally of Independents (RNI).

Many candidates from the 2021 elections are expected to seek re-election, including several current ministers in the North Taroudant district.
