South Aegean launches Open Farm Days for students

The South Aegean Region, in collaboration with Open Farm, is launching the ‘South Aegean Open Farm Days 2026’. Scheduled from October 19 to 25, 2026, the initiative aims to connect students and educators from the Cyclades and Dodecanese islands with local agricultural production and traditions.

Through organized visits, workshops, and experiential activities, participants will engage directly with farms and processing units. The program focuses on teaching students about local crops, livestock, and traditional techniques used to produce goods such as honey, cheese, wine, olive oil, herbs, fruits, and vegetables.

Beyond agricultural education, the initiative seeks to highlight the connection between local production, gastronomy, biodiversity, and the economic and cultural identity of the islands. This program is part of a broader regional strategy to link primary production with tourism and sustainable development, supporting the South Aegean's candidacy for the title of World Gastronomy Region 2028.
