South Aegean Region allocates €1.3M for medical equipment

The South Aegean Region has launched a new call for proposals to provide €1,317,409 for modern medical technology equipment. This funding, sourced from the European Regional Development Fund under the ‘South Aegean 2021–2027’ program, aims to upgrade primary healthcare infrastructure across the islands.

The initiative, signed by Regional Governor Giorgos Chatzimarkos, targets health centers, hospital units, and other primary care facilities in islands with populations exceeding 3,100. The goal is to address equipment shortages, modernize existing tools, and reduce health inequalities by strengthening primary and pre-hospital care.

The National Central Authority for Health Procurement (EKAPY) is requested to submit a proposal for the integration and funding of this action. The final selection of projects will be based on a needs mapping conducted by the Ministry of Health.
